Legspinner Ish Sodhi will remain with the BLACKCAPS for the South African leg of their tour of Africa, it was confirmed today.
Sodhi had initially been tagged to return home after the Zimbabwe section, but will now stay on for the two T20is and three One-Day Internationals against the Proteas.
Twenty-two-year-old Sodhi made his ODI debut in Harare and took five wickets in his three appearances at an economy rate of 5.00. He had already made his Test debut in 2013 and Twenty20 International debut in 2014, and turned in an economical 1-15 in the BLACKCAPS' Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe on the weekend.
Ross Taylor, who sustained a groin injury leading into the third ODI against Zimbabwe, has returned home to New Zealand to convalesce. No replacement has been called up, leaving the BLACKCAPS with a touring squad of 15 from which to select.
The BLACKCAPS play their opening Twenty20 against South Africa in Durban on Friday local time (4am Saturday New Zealand time).
