INTERVIEW: Chris Martin talks before the third Test in Wellington

Chris Martin
The BLACKCAPS strike bowler talks about his recovery and the next Test in Wellington.

On how he’s feeling after the Napier Test...

“Not too bad, I haven’t really had to use my body much. I’ve just been sleeping and eating and hanging out so give it another day or so and a run tomorrow and we’ll get back to the next Test.”

On if rest is the most important thing between matches...

“I think once you get the groove and the rhythm of bowling the fatigue side of things can come right quite quickly because what you’ve been doing for the past three days in the Test is just grooving a rhythm and getting things in the right place for as long as you can.  I think out here we’ll get the results quicker.  I’m not 100 % sure how quick but maybe the three days we’ve just done is going to be a oncer.”

On what he wants to achieve in Wellington...

“I suppose anything that has bounce and hits the spots and where bounces go in the air for five days. The ball went quite soft in Napier and the ball lasts a little bit longer out here so at least we’ll get more swing and bounce out of it. Looking at it from here it looks brown so we’ll see how it goes.”

On his experiences in Wellington...

“Its certainly a results wicket. I haven’t played too many Tests where we haven’t had a result there. It generally does enough to keep everyone interested so that’s the sign of a good wicket.”
