INTERVIEW: Aimee Watkins before the warm up match against England

 Aimee Watkins
White Ferns captain Aimee Watkins gives us an update before ICC World Twenty20 warm up match against England.

How is the team feeling ahead of the first warm up match against England?

"The team is feeling good.  We have recovered well from the long flight and have been up early most mornings training and exercising to get over any jet lag.   We are acclimatizing to the cold after some warm weather in Brisbane last week."

How beneficial was the series against Australia in Brisbane last week?

"The series was very good.  We have not played that much T20 so every match we are learning.  We made some changes to our match pans throughout the series and tried a few different things.  It was great to be able to get outside after training indoors back at home so it was a great build up for us."

How are the conditions at Taunton?

"It has been very cold since we have arrived.  We had to train indoors yesterday after heavy overnight rain.  Apparently they had two weeks of great weather but that seems to have gone. The county ground though looks in great condition so hopefully the weather improves before out first group match there on Friday."

What did you learn from that match from watching the Netherlands play England at Lord’s?

"We learnt that anything can happen and that one or two individual performances can win a match for any team with the gap between between countries being reduced in the shorter format of the game."
