Pakistan leads India by a massive 518 runs after three days of the third Test at Karachi.
At stumps, Pakistan was 511-5 with Faisal Iqbal marking his return to Test cricket by scoring a superb maiden century to end the day on 103 not out.
In comparison to their faltering first innings, the top six Pakistan batsmen each scored half-centuries - the fourth time that feat has been achieved.
Overnight batsmen Younis Khan scored 77 and Mohammad Yousuf 97.
The concern for India is that no team has scored more than 418 to win a Test match.
It was a tough day for the visiting bowlers on a pitch that offered none of the assistance that caused so much mayhem on the first day.
Younis and Yousuf managed their fourth century partnership of the series, and made it five from their last five Tests against India.
The first wicket of the day came after lunch when Anil Kumble trapped Younis leg before wicket, leaving him with 553 runs in the series.
Any hopes India might have held of relief being in sight were disposed of when Iqbal joined Yousuf to play such a fine innings. His century came from 190 balls and included 12 boundaries.
However, a Kumble flipper denied Yousuf his third century of the series, as he was trapped on the back foot lbw.
Shahid Afridi launched an immediate assault, although he and Kumble had a verbal altercation which required the umpire to quieten things down.
Not even the new ball, taken after 92 overs, could temper the batting as Afridi took 18 from an Irfan Pathan over. He reached 60 from 46 balls before an attempted pull shot undid him with a catch being taken at mid-on from Rudra Pratap Singh's bowling.
Abdul Razzaq helped Iqbal sustain the pressure and was 44 not out at stumps. Kumble has 2-136 from his 33 overs.
