India seals Test victory

India has dismissed the West Indies for 219 in its second innings to claim a 49-run victory on the third day of the fourth Test at Sabina Park.

The win sees the visitors claim an unassailable one-nil series victory after the three earlier Tests resulted in uneventful draws.

Needing 269 to beat India, the West Indies were unravelled by spinner Anil Kumble who bowled brilliantly to snare 6-78 from his 22.4 overs.

The hosts looked to be coasting to victory, despite losing opener Chris Gayle early, after Ramnaresh Sarwan and Danesh Ramdin made half-centuries.

However, Sri Sreesanth was also in sound form for India with the ball and his 3-38 from 15 overs proved devastating as the West Indies collapsed short of the target.

Earlier in the day, India went from an overnight 128-6 to 171 all-out.

Rahul Dravid, the star of the second day, added six runs to his overnight 62 before becoming a victim of Corey Collymore (5-48).

But a lead of 268 was enough to give India its first series victory in the Caribbean in 35 years and only its fourth victory from 42 Tests in the West Indies.
