England's first Test with India ended in a draw at Nagpur, but not before one of the more remarkable final sessions to a Test match was played out.
England set India a victory target of 368 on the final day.
After losing Virender Sehwag for a duck, Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid took the side to the tea break in the comfortable position of 131-1 with a draw assured.
However, once Jaffer marked his first Test in four years by scoring his maiden Test century, India mounted a last-ditch assault for the winning score.
The batting order was changed after Rahul Dravid attacked during the latter part of his 71 which suggested a lifting of the Indian tempo.
Irfan Pathan was the next man in with India needing 200 from 25 overs. He edged a four from spinner Monty Panesar and England captain Andrew Flintoff went on the defensive.
When Flintoff came on to bowl soon after Pathan took a four and a six from his first three balls.
When Jaffer was caught by Andrew Strauss, one of three catches he made during the session, for 100, Mahendra Dhoni was next man in and managed 16 before Steve Harmison broke through and had him caught.
Pathan was still hitting out but Flintoff changed to bowling around the wicket to him and he holed out to mid-on for 35, from 25 balls.
Harbhajan Singh was also promoted but he scored only seven before he was bowled by a Harmison yorker.
At that point India conceded and when bad light was offered to Sachin Tendulkar, the game ended with India 260-6.
