India make rankings headway

India have moved up three places in the ICC One-Day International rankings after their thrilling drawn home series with South Africa.

The 2-2 series deadlock sees Rahul Dravid’s men gain two points to lift their tally to 109.

They move above Sri Lanka and England only after the ratings were recalculated to three decimal places.

The BLACKCAPS are currently in seventh place, with the April 1 2006 deadline for the LG ICC ODI Championship table now on the horizon.

The top six teams in the rankings on that date 1 April 2006 will automatically qualify for the second stage of the ICC Champions Trophy, to be staged in India later in the year.

The new season presents ample opportunity for the BLACKCAPS to move back into the top six positions, with series against Australia, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.
