Hinds win after Sparks collapse

State Central Hinds completed a seven-wicket win over State Otago Volts in Palmerston North after the visitors’ batting order suffered a tail-end collapse.

Having been put into bat, Otago made a strong start, with opener Megan Kane making 54 in sizeable stands with Anna Kitchen (21) and Suzie Bates (19).

But from a position of relative strength at 142 for three, they added only 15 more runs for the loss of seven wickets in eight overs, and were dismissed with nine overs remaining.

Sparks captain Sarah Tsukigawa carried her bat for an unbeaten 25, but could not arrest the decline.

The Hinds wrapped up their reply in the 39th over, an unbroken partnership of 87 between Aimee Mason (48 not out) and Nicole Thessman (45no) completing the victory.
