Hearts sign West Indian star Stafanie Taylor

The current ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year will be playing in Hearts colours this season with the announcement that Stafanie Taylor is coming to Auckland.

Taylor picked up the ICC accolade just over a month ago on the back of a year that included 610 runs at 76.25 from ten one day internationals, as well as 15 wickets from her offspin.

Taylor is coming to New Zealand to further progress her already rapidly developing career as she seeks to regularly play against quality opposition. Only 20, she has already been representing her country for three years and is one of the most exciting female cricketers currently on the international stage.

An aggressive right hand top order bat Taylor will provide some real firepower for the Hearts, especially in the twenty20 form of the game where she is likely to open the batting. Her offpsin is also more than useful and will provide a very handy option for Auckland in both forms of the game.

Hearts coach Maia Lewis was thrilled to confirm such a big name player for the season.

“Stafanie is a great player and also a very exciting one so we’re delighted to have her on board. She’ll provide some real experience at that higher level even though she’s a youngster herself. We think she’ll give us a big edge, especially in twenty20.”

Taylor arrives in late November and is available for the entirety of the Hearts schedule that conckudes in mid-January.
