Harmison needs to concentrate

Troubled England fast bowler Steve Harmison needs to shake off complacency if his one-day bowling is to improve.

That's the view of England coach Duncan Fletcher after another poor performance by Harmison at the Champions Trophy.

He conceded 45 runs from 29 balls in Saturday's loss to Australia.

"He has to work hard and not take his game for granted," Fletcher told BBC Sport.

"In the one-day game he seems to have some concerns about his control, which he can get away with in Test cricket, and I think that puts a little bit of pressure on him.

"Everyone has some sort of technical flaw but it is knowing you have worked at your game and done everything you could to prepare which counteracts your technical deficiencies," he said.

With a loss of confidence the problems were compounded and reflected in a loss of control, he said.

England, to stay in the tournament, needs to beat the West Indies heavily on Saturday and have India win its two remaining games by landslides.

Fletcher said injuries were behind England's poor record which stands at losses in 19 of their last 24 games against Test nations, during which time 34 players have been used.

As he looks to field a settled team, he said that with a possible 11 games against Australia and New Zealand in the VB Series this year, the World Cup might be coming too soon for England.

England's best hope was that things could quickly slip into place so the side could emerge as a 'surprise package.'
