Harmison left out

Fast bowler Stephen Harmison has not been selected in England's 12-man squad for next week's second Test against Sri Lanka.

Harmison, sidelined from international cricket since injuring his shin before the second Test in Mumbai two months ago, returned recently to county cricket, fuelling speculation he would be included for the upcoming match.

However, selectors opted instead for uncapped seamer Jon Lewis and omitted batsman Ian Bell.

All-rounder Andrew Flintoff will again captain England in the absence of regular skipper Michael Vaughan.

The first Test was drawn after Sri Lanka batted for 14 hours and survived nine dropped catches to escape defeat.

England: Marcus Trescothick, Andrew Strauss, Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Geraint Jones, Liam Plunkett, Sajid Mahmood, Matthew Hoggard, Monty Panesar, Jon Lewis
