Harmison hits the nets

England bowler Steve Harmison has trained in a closed session after arriving in Adelaide, while coach Duncan Fletcher has not ruled out engaging the assistance of former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee to turn Harmison's form around.

Harmison endured a disappointing opening Ashes Test against Australia at the Gabba, in stark contrast to his performances for England as it regained the famous urn on home soil last year.

Handed the ball for the start of the much-anticipated series last Thursday, Harmison's opening delivery was taken by skipper Andrew Flintoff at second slip, and he wasn't then called on for new-ball honours thereafter in the game, finishing with a match haul of 1-177.

His team-mates may have been given the day off when they arrived in the South Australian capital on Tuesday, but Harmison was ushered to the venue of this week's second Test for a private one-on-one net session with England bowling coach Kevin Shine.

"We just want to make sure he gets back to his best where he can intimidate the opposition and he's got that ability, he knows he's got that ability, and we just have to work on him to make sure he gets back to that form that he knows he can bowl at," Fletcher told reporters.

"He's going to go and work at it over the next three days and suddenly something will just click in there. He's proved that he's a world-class bowler he's just lost that form for some short while part of this tour."

"He's just got to make sure he goes in there and picks up that form again and tries to learn a bit more about his bowling and get back to performing.

Fletcher may not believe Harmison is badly out of form despite his poor game in Brisbane, but he also admitted that Lillee's offer to help try and turn the fast bowler around may be taken up.

The tourists are also strongly considering bringing spinner Monty Panesar into the team that lost the first Test by 277 runs, but Fletcher, who is also a selector, wouldn't speculate on the XI that England will name for the Test.

"At this stage we're not going to consider dropping anyone at this stage," Fletcher added. "We've got to go and have a look at the wicket, see how people perform and see how he (Harmison) comes on with his bowling."
