Gillette winners acknowledged at awards

Congratulations to the Gillette Cup Young Player of the Year award winners Jarrod Pike (2012) and Aditya Dhadwal (2013).

The award recognises the single most outstanding player of the Gillette Cup finals tournament. Past winners include Brendon McCullum (2000), BJ Watling (2002), Corey Anderson (2006), Tim Southee (2006), Kane Williamson (2007), Adam Milne (2008).

This year's New Zealand Cricket Awards, held Thursday March 7 at the Langham hotel in Auckland, acknowledged two seasons of cricket.

During the 2012 Gillette Cup finals, Hutt Valley High's Jarrod Pike delivered a scintillating batting performance which included three half-centuries, a top score of 106 and an average of 83.25.

At the most recent Gillette Cup finals held in December 2013, Mount Albert Grammar captain Aditya Dhadwal took nine wickets, four catches and averaged 48.75 runs with the bat which included two half-centuries.

Each award winner receives $1,000 towards their own professional development and their school receives $1,000 worth of cricket equipment.
