Germon named Canterbury CEO

Former BLACKCAPS wicketkeeper and captain Lee Germon has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer of Cantebrury Cricket.

Germon replaces Richard Reid, who resigned in October to join the Otago Rugby Football Union.

"We are delighted to have been able to secure the appointment of Lee and the Board and staff of Canterbury Cricket are very much looking forward to working with him when he takes up his position of Chief Executive Officer in March of next year" said CCA chairman Cran Bull.

"Not only is Lee well-known and respected in Canterbury after a distinguished playing career with both Canterbury and New Zealand,  including captaining Canterbury and the BLACKCAPS, but he has been also for the past two years the Chief Executive of the Tasman Rugby Union.”

"He therefore comes to us with a strong cricket background and the experience of leading a major sporting organisation in New Zealand.  Canterbury Cricket was extremely fortunate with the high calibre of applicants for the job but Lee's credentials made him the outstanding candidate.

"Naturally we would have liked him to start early in the New Year but fully appreciate his contractual commitments with Tasman Rugby. In the meantime the Board has the utmost confidence in the present management and staff of Canterbury Cricket to continue to run Canterbury Cricket's operations at a high standard."

Germon joins Canterbury Cricket in March, with Trudy Anderson continuing in the role of acting Chief Executive.
