Gayle smashes century

A century from Chris Gayle has guided the West Indies to a comfortable 10 wicket victory over Bangladesh to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Batting first, the Tigers struggled from the outset as Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo nabbed impressive figures of 3-14.

However, despite the West Indies' early success with the ball, Bangladesh looked like mounting a surprisingly competitive total after Aftab Ahmed (59) and Shahriar Nafees (38) combined for 85.

Needing a victory to keep its Champions Trophy aspirations alive, Bangladesh's remaining batsmen failed to add any respectability to the total and the Tigers soon folded for 161.

With little pressure to score runs quickly, the West Indies started their chase defensively as Gayle and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (52) picked off runs with relative ease.

Gayle, however, soon looked in no mood to be hanging around as he raced away to 104 (from 116 balls) to help the West Indies complete their comeback with 13.3 overs to spare.

The West Indies now square off against Sri Lanka to determine which group each of the teams will qualify for.
