New Zealand Cricket today announced that James Franklin sustained a finger injury during today’s training at the Basin Reserve in Wellington ahead of The National Bank Series ODI against South Arica.
BLACKCAPS Physiotherapist Paul Close said: “James dislocated a joint in the little finger of his right hand while attempting to take a catch at training today.
“He was taken to hospital where x-rays cleared him of any fracture but he is still is some discomfort.
“There’s still a reasonable chance he will be fit to play tomorrow with a fitness test in the morning determining his availability.
“If he does miss out tomorrow we’re confident he will be ready for the remaining ODI matches.”
Tom Latham has been called into the squad as cover and will join the team before tomorrow’s match.
