Otago Volts removed Wellington Firebirds for just 76 before earning first-innings points and opening a sizeable lead in the State Championship match at Dunedin’s University Oval.
Volts captain Craig Cumming invited his guests to bat first and reaped the rewards of his decision inside 32 overs.
James McMillan claimed four wickets, Sam Wells, Craig Smith and Brad Scott taking two each, with Luke Woodcock’s 17 the only double-figure score.
Cumming then made 93 as he guided his team past their visitors’ score without loss.
The BLACKCAPS opener and Aaron Redmond put on 134 for the opening wicket, the latter progressing to 50 at stumps, alongside Greg Todd (40) with the score on 201 for one.
