Year seven premier captain Adam Banks has given his East Coast Bays Club the ultimate reward, when they were drawn as the MVP Club of the Season.
The presentation was made to East Coast Bays’ officials on Saturday during the clubs junior prize giving. The MVP Club will recieve a prize with a worth of around $5000.
Banks’ qualifying MVP performance was achieved in the match against North Shore Cricket Club in November. Opening the batting Banks’ swashbuckling innings saw him retire on 50 (off 31 deliveries), before he completed a memorable day by capturing two for 34 from his eight overs.
East Coast Bays' Vivienne Rundle was shocked but excited for the club. “It still has not really registered that we have won this prize and it is all a bit overwhelming to be honest.
“Everyone at the club is so pleased for Adam and especially that he was able to be here to receive the prize on behalf of the club has been great.

Recognising the Most Valuable Player is one of those things players aspire to at all levels of the game. ‘Player of the Day’ or ‘Player of the Year’ awards are commonplace at all levels of any sport and this year it has been exciting to recognise the nation’s best amateur cricketers in the same way we do the professional players.
The MVP Player of the Season was drawn from over 1600 qualifying entries but it was Andrew Balfour who ultimately won the Kookaburra cricket equipment pack.
