Dravid saves India

India has taken control of its final Test match against the West Indies, claiming a 225-run lead at the end of the second day's play.

In a match that seems unlikely to go much past three days of play, the Indians rattled the West Indies out for 103 in reply to its mediocre first innings score of 200.

At stumps, the tourists had limped to 6-128 to be 225 runs ahead, thanks mainly to Rahul Dravid's handsome 62 not out, to go with his first innings score of 81.

The Indians bounced back well after a poor effort with the bat on day one, with spinner Harbhajan Singh doing all the damage with the ball.

Singh ripped through the host team's tail, after Anil Kumble and Shanthakumaran Sreesanth did the early damage - Sreesanth removing the dangerous pair of Chris Gayle and Brian Lara.

Lara and Daren Ganga were the only two batsmen to offer even a whimper of resistance for the West Indies, scoring 26 and 40 respectively in a pitiful Test match performance.

The cheap wickets continued to flow in India's second innings, with Wasim Jaffer, Virender Sehwag and Mohammad Kaif all being dismissed in single figures.

Dravid proved that he is the class player of the team by backing up his first innings heroics with what will surely be a man-of-the-match performance in the second, as the Indians steer closer to victory.
