The Devon Hotel Central Stags' Doug Bracewell has been brought into the BLACKCAPS' ANZ ODI squad in place of the injured Mitchell McClenaghan.
McClenaghan suffered a fracture just above the left-eye in the opening ANZ ODI against Pakistan at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, and will undergo minor cosmetic surgery on Friday.
Bracewell will join the squad ahead of the second ODI in Napier and travel with the team to Auckland ahead of the final match against Pakistan on Sunday, while the Stags meanwhile go on to contest the Ford Trophy Grand Final on Saturday at Pukekura Park.
BLACKCAPS coach Mike Hesson said McClenaghan’s health was the priority.
“Obviously our main focus is making sure Mitch is ok and we’ll continue to monitor him over the coming days,” said Hesson.
“Doug has been in superb form this summer and we’re confident he can come in and do a good job for us. He’s an integral member of our wider bowling group and brings a lot to the side.”
