Day one of NZCT Junior Boys washed out

All four matches scheduled for day one of the New Zealand Community Trust Junior Boys competition were abandoned in Palmerston North today, with showers in the afternoon seeing all teams pick up a solitary point.

The 40-over tournament being played at Manawaroa Park sees the top eight year nine and ten teams from around the country come together to compete for the cup. The sides are split into two pools and play three group matches, with the resulting top seeds from each pool facing off in a final on Thursday.

All of today’s matches managed to get through the first-innings, but were cut shot soon into the second. There were, however, some individual performances of note, with the highlight of them coming from Otago Boy’s High School’s Jarryd Taig, making an unbeaten 130 off 117 deliveries. The best of the bowling figures came from New Plymouth Boys’ High School’s Bradley Slater, who captured figures of three for 29.

All of tomorrow’s matches will begin at 10:00am.
