Capacity crowd assured for Christchurch's return to the international circuit.

Day one of ANZ Boxing Day Test sold out

The first day of the ANZ Boxing Day Test between the BLACKCAPS and Sri Lanka at Christchurch’s Hagley Oval is a sell-out.
The last tickets for day one of the Test were purchased today, guaranteeing a capacity crowd of about 8000 for the country’s newest international venue.
Tickets for days two to five are still available.
New Zealand Cricket’s GM Commercial James Wear puts the strong demand down to a combination of the BLACKCAPS’ good recent form, the chance to witness international cricket returning to Christchurch for the first time since the 2011 earthquake - and an encouraging weather-forecast.
“My advice to patrons is that they arrive early and get to know their neighbours because it will be a tight fit,” Mr Wear said of the Boxing Day crowd.
“And given the forecast, hats and sunscreen will be a priority.”
Mr Wear said organisers had worked tirelessly to cover all eventualities at Hagley Oval, but pointed out the Test would be the first major event at the venue since its completion.
“This is another major step in the evolution of the ground and, while we envisage everything running smoothly, I’d ask that patrons bear with us as we navigate what should be a very memorable day.”
