Day Two: 9 December 2008

Play was abandoned at 3:00 on day two at the womens national development tournament at Lincoln University. No play was possible due to persistent rain.

Day One: 8 December 2008

Auckland vs Canterbury

Auckland: 94 (Sam Fitzsimon 3-20) lost to  Canterbury ; 96/2 (Frances Mackay 38- not out, Janet Brehaut 39- not out)

Auckland suffered a fatal blow today losing to Canterbury. Sam Fitzsimon was dominant with the ball for Canterbury taking 3 wickets for only 20 runs. Frances Mackay (38*) and Janet Brehaut (39*) saw Canterbury home to win easily by 8 wickets over Auckland.

 

Northern Districts vs Wellington

Northern Districts: 109/7 (Ana Swart 38; Renee Moffitt 3-17) beat Wellington 78/8 (Sarah Bradbury 18;  Emily Bailey 2-16)

Northern District elected to bat first and scored well with 109 for 7. Ana Swart put on a stirling effort with the bat but fell short of a 50 with 38. Renee Moffitt had Northern spellbound with an astonishing hat trick to end up with figures of 3-17.  Emily Bailey bowled well for Norhtern with 2-16. Wellington went in with high hopes only to be cut off for 78.  Northern District won by 31 runs.

 

Central Districts vs Otago

Central Districts 173/4 (Esther Lanser 76) beat Otago: 91/6 (Esther Lanser 3-14)

Central Districts dominated with the bat, scoring a impressive 173 runs in just 20 overs. Esther Lancer put on a show for the crowd with 76.  That was not all for her though;  Esther Lanser again showcased her skills by bambooziling the Otago batsmen with great figures of 3-14. Otago could only manage 91 for 6 and  so Central Districts won easily by 82 runs.
