Damien Wright to step down as BLACKCAPS Bowling Coach

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) today advised that BLACKCAPS Bowling Coach, Damien Wright, is to step down from the role at the end of the ICC World Twenty20.

Speaking about his resignation, Damien Wright said: “I have really enjoyed working with the New Zealand team and it was a tough decision to leave the position.

“The decision is related to time away from my family and a need to be based closer to home.
“It has been a privilege to work with current crop of bowlers and I’m proud of the progression they have made over the past year.

“I would like to thank NZC for the opportunity and wish Mike Hesson, Ross Taylor, and the rest of the BLACKCAPS unit all the best for the future. “

NZC Director of Cricket, John Buchanan said: “Damien has done a brilliant job since he came on board and will be hard to replace.

“He brings a huge amount of passion and energy to the team.  We have been particularly impressed with the growth and development of the young fast bowlers during his time in the role.
“We appreciate that it was a tough decision for Damien and he leaves with our best wishes.”

NZC will begin advertising for a new bowling coach this week.
