The WHITE FERNS have been preparing for the 2017 Women’s World Cup in England, but they won’t be the only Kiwis under the spotlight.
Chris Brown and Kathy Cross have been selected as umpires for the global tournament which runs from June 24 to July 23.
This year’s tournament will be Kathy Cross’ fourth Women’s World Cup, which will add to her already impressive tally of 46 Women’s ODI’s.
Cross has umpired in four of the last five Women’s World Cups, joining an elite group of umpires who have officiated in four or more World Cups. Billy Bowden, Dickie Bird, Aleem Dar have umpired in four, while Steve Bucknor and David Shepherd lead the crop with six.
Chris Brown has made an impressive start to his international umpiring career. The 2016/2017 was his debut season, which saw him standing in six ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals. To be selected for a pinnacle ICC competition within your first 12 months as an international umpire is a unique achievement.
The WHITE FERNS begin their World Cup campaign with a match against Sri Lanka on the 24th of June, before they play South Africa, Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, India, and England in the space of three weeks.
