Celebrating ten years of MILO Cricket

What are two things that are totally Kiwi? MILO and cricket and because of this fantastic combination MILO and New Zealand Cricket are celebrating ten years in partnership.

MILO Have-a-Go, MILO Kiwi Cricket and MILO Cup and Shield competitions have been part of the cricketing landscape for junior and intermediate school aged children since 1999 and the number of children getting involved with the game is growing every year. The competitions have seen close to 90,000 players involved.

MILO sponsorship manager Kate Brian says for MILO it’s about aligning the company with a like minded sporting partner and New Zealand Cricket seemed the natural choice. “It’s been 10 years with MILO Have-a-Go and for us it’s about creating a long term partnership,” she said. “Our goal is to get kids active and our partnership with New Zealand Cricket fits perfectly into that.”

MILO Have-a-Go is targeted at five to eight year olds and introduces them to the game of cricket. The focus is to get children participating and enjoying the game. MILO Kiwi Cricket is for seven to 10 years olds and the goal for this competition is to develop cricket skills further.

The MILO Cup and Shield finals are also happening December 7th-8th in Palmerston North, which will see the best primary/intermediate teams play each other for the silverware.

To celebrate 10 years MILO and New Zealand Cricket will be on Sunrise tomorrow (Wednesday Nov 18), broadcasting from the Grafton Cricket Club in Auckland. A number of international cricketers will be doing drills and skills with children involved with the MILO competitions.
