Captain’s knock earns Hinds win

Aimee Mason ensured State Central Hinds extended their lead in the State League standings with an impressive knock in a 92-run defeat of State Northern Spirit at Palmerston North.

Hinds captain Mason made 94 as the home team produced an impressive 275 for nine.

Opener Kendra Cocksedge scored 66, the highest score of her State League career, and shared a half-century partnership with the skipper.

Rachel Candy was the pick of the CD bowling with three for 20, with teenager Sonya Thompson claiming three for 34, to limit the Spirit reply to 183.

Kate Pulford made 60, Nicola Browne 34 and Anna Wilkins 31, but a lower order collapse saw ND dismissed one ball into the 41st over.
