Canterbury Wizard’s QEII Park in Christchurch and Otago’s Queenstown Events Centre will stage the preliminary finals of the premiere Men’s One-Day competition on Sunday 6 February.
The Canterbury Wizards earned the right after finishing top of the table on 21 points, three more than their second placed opponents, the Auckland Aces.
The winner of the top-of-the-table clash match will go straight through to the final with the loser getting another life against the successful team in the knockout match between Otago Volts and Northern Knights.
The Otago Volts retained third spot despite a final round loss to Canterbury and get home ground advantage when they take on last year’s champions the Northern Knights, who scrapped into fourth.
Competition for the Mitre10 Men’s One-Day MVP is also hotting up with Rob Nicol from Canterbury leading the way. He is closely followed by team mate Peter Fulton with Auckland’s Lou Vincent and Gareth Hopkins rounding out the top four.
Both matches start at 11.00am with tickets available at the gate.
