Canterbury sits atop of the National Women’s Under-21 tournament by six points following their fourth consecutive victory at the New Zealand Cricket High Performance Centre in Lincoln.
The hosts bet Northern Districts by a considerable 188 runs to remain undefeated and put breathing space on the points table between them and the rest of the competition.
Wellington also had a big win over Auckland to put them up to second equal, while Central Districts picked up their first victory of the tournament when they defeated Otago by 185 runs.
Three rounds of Twenty20 matches remain, with the final match to be played on Wednesday.
Canterbury v Northern Districts
Canterbury collected another win having convincingly beaten Northern Districts by 188 runs in the fourth round.
Behind 86 from Hayley Banks and 67 from Hayley Jensen, Canterbury posted 265 for four from their 50 overs, before dismissing Northern for just 77 in the 33rd over.
Only two players made starts in the Northern pursuit, with Brooke Halliday (23) and Brooke Kirkbride (13) the best of the batsmen.
It was an otherwise glum looking scorecard for the visitors, who were taken apart by a clinical Canterbury bowling line up.
Mereana Hyde was the biggest threat with the ball and finished with figures of four for ten from 7.2 overs. Hayley Jensen and Meg Lay were also effective and picked up two wickets apiece.
Earlier, the Canterbury top-order had once again done its job to reach a competitive total.
A second wicket partnership worth 150 between Banks and Jensen lifted Canterbury past the250 mark. It was another fine display from the pair, who have been consistent with the bat throughout the tournament.
Cameos from Natalie Cox (23*) and Courtney Buckman (17) finished the job off nicely, as their side finished their overs with six wickets in hand.
Central Districts v Otago
Central Districts took maximum points with a 185 run win over Otago to jump to fourth in the table.
Central Women made 257 for six in the first innings and proceeded to dismiss Otago for 72 after 25.3 overs.
Only Polly Inglis (14), Caitlin Blakely (11) and Kate Stiven (14) made double digits from the Otago line-up, as Centrals bowling attack took regular wickets.
Sarah Cowan was the chief wicket-taker, finishing with match analysis of four for 24 from ten overs. Mikaela Greig took three while Kelly Rangi also chipped in with two.
Earlier, the top three Central batsmen combined for 159 runs.
Sarah Cowan (40) and Sonya Thompson (80) put on 96 for the opening wicket, before Maree Heal came in and made 49.
Rangi also contributed with 28, before Anlo de Venter completed the innings with 18 not out.
Auckland v Wellington
Wellington bet Auckland by six wickets to draw level with their opponents on the points table in second place.
Auckland made 182 for seven in their 50 overs, but were unable to defend it as Wellington went past their total with six wickets in hand after 42.2 overs.
The majority of the chase was done by Suzie McDonald (62) and Leigh Kasperek (52*), both of whom have featured prominently prior to this game as well.
The pair put on 74 for the third wicket, before McDonald was bowled by Lauren Down. Another strong performer in Thamsyn Newton finished the job off though, making an unbeaten 26 as Wellington claimed victory.
In the first innings, Auckland had relied on an unbeaten 50 from number seven Georgia Guy to make a competitive score.
Captain Sarah Carnachan (28) and three others all made healthy starts, but were unable to push on, leaving Auckland in a dangerous position at 92 for six.
Guy though came in and found the gaps brilliantly, making 50* from 54 balls which was highlighted by four boundaries.
Some of the early damage with the ball came from Rosemary Cockle, who grabbed three wickets in her eight overs for 29 runs.
Points table:
Canterbury 20
Auckland 14
