Brownlie heads to Northern Knights

The SKYCITY Northern Knights have today announced the signing of current BLACKCAPS contracted player Dean Brownlie.

Born in Australia and having played Under 17 cricket for Western Australia, twenty-nine year old Brownlie has spent his time in New Zealand plying his trade for Canterbury.  He has played 57 first-class matches, averaging 41 with the bat.

He has also played 14 Test matches as a middle-order batsman for New Zealand, and is now seeking an opportunity to push his claims at the top of the order.

"I've been seeking an opportunity to open the batting and am very much looking forward to this new challenge at ND.  They had a great season last year.  I am hopeful I can be a big contributor to help ensure we are challenging for titles in all 3 forms again." said Brownlie.

"The Knights have a large pool of talent and combined with strong leadership, it's a great time to be part of the Association" concluded Brownlie.

SKYCITY Northern Knights coach James Pamment added "We are delighted to welcome Dean Brownlie to the Knights and the ND Family. He's a player of international quality, and his hard-working approach and desire toreclaim his place in the BLACKCAPS fits very well with our philosophies. He will be a very good addition to our Squad."

Brownlie is relocating to Mount Maunganui and will join up the Knights after the New Zealand A tour to England.
