The BLACKCAPS collected their first victory of their England tour with a comfortable 107-run win over county side Derbyshire.
On a brilliantly sunny final day of the three-day match, the home side needed 335 to win after New Zealand declared overnight at 199-5. But Derby were never in the hunt.

Neil Wagner led the bowling charge with 5-45 and with that five-wicket bag he claimed his 300th first-class wicket.
The Otago paceman started the day the same way he did in Derby’s first innings by knocking over the first two wickets – one caught behind by Tom Latham and the other LBW.
Bruce Martin claimed the third wicket right on the lunch break, clean bowling Wayne Madsen to leave Derby at 80-3 after the first session.
Doug Bracewell continued his good form from the first innings, where he had the best figures of 4-28, knocking over the next two Derby wickets. The first caught by Martin Guptill at second slip and the second caught one further out at third slip by Dean Brownlie.
Wagner chimed in with the next wicket and a crucial one at that. He had Dan Redfern caught behind by BJ Watling for 58 and with it the 300 wicket milestone. Minutes later Wagner had another in the bag, also caught by Watling, to claim his fourth wicket. He grabbed one more in the tail to end with the BLACKCAPS best figures of 5-45.
Bracewell and Martin knocked over one each of the tail to finish with 3-56 and 2-35 respectively.
It was just the start to the tour the BLACKCAPS wanted. A comfortable victory, three fine days of cricket and some solid performances with the bat and ball. Now on to Leicester where the team face the English Lions in a four-day match starting on Thursday.

BJ Watling led a comeback for the BLACKCAPS on the second day of their three-day match against County side Derbyshire.
After knocking the home side over for a measly 154, with Doug Bracewell leading the charge with the ball, Derbyshire took revenge to have New Zealand at 32-3 at one stage.
Watling continued his good form from yesterday finishing the day on 61 not out to take the BLACKCAPS to 199-5 at the end of the second day’s play.
Earlier in the day, the home side who resumed at 24-1 were almost immediately on the back foot with Neil Wagner taking two early wickets both caught behind by Watling.
Bracewell then joined in with two wickets from consecutive balls. The first to a good catch from Peter Fulton at first slip and the second caught at third slip by Dean Brownlie.
This had the home team struggling at 89-5, but they managed to hold on without losing any more wickets until just before the lunch break when spinner Bruce Martin grabbed his first wicket of the tour, after a stumping by Tom Latham who had taken over the wicket keeping duties.
Shortly after the break Martin had his second wicket with Williamson taking a superb catch at short cover. The innings was wrapped up soon after with Bracewell claiming another pair to finish with the team’s best figures of 4-28. The Central Districts paceman looked impressive throughout his spell, and his four wicket bag will go a long way to helping him regain his Test spot.
Martin finished with 3-13 and looked in good touch, while Wagner, who did the early damage, ended with 3-33.
Finishing 135 runs behind, the home side made a strong start with the ball knocking Hamish Rutherford over for a duck, Fulton for three and Martin Guptill for 8 to have the BLACKCAPS battling at 32-3.
After tea Mark Footitt continued his good form in the match bowling Brownlie for eight, before Williamson was also bowled one short of his half century.
Watling and Latham (47 not out) continued to steady the ship to leave the Kiwis 334 runs ahead going into tomorrow’s final day.
Day one report
The BLACKCAPS started their tour of England with a strong batting effort on the first day of their three-day match against County side Derbsyhire.BJ Watling and Dean Brownlie were the stars of the day as the pair notched up 77 not out and 71 respectively to put New Zealand in the box seat heading into day two. Their partnership took the visitors from 126-4 soon after lunch to 242 following the tea break.
Earlier in the day stand-in captain Kane Williamson lost the toss after a slight delay due to rain and the visitors were asked to bat first. Trent Boult, Tim Southee and late arrivals Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor were rested for the opening match.

Two of the stars of the home summer Hamish Rutherford and Peter Fulton opened for the BLACKCAPS but neither lasted the opening session. Rutherford was clean bowled by Alasdair Evans for 13 in the first session, while Peter Fulton was caught LBW soon after for 21.
Williamson and Martin Guptill took the visitors through to 92-2 at lunch. Guptill didn’t last long after the break caught behind off Mark Footitt for 25, with Williamson following soon after in the same fashion for 43. The captain for the day had looked in good touch. After that it was all the BLACKCAPS with Brownlie and Watling both notching up their half centuries before the tea break.
As is often the case, the partnership was broken straight after the tea break with Brownlie gone for 71 again falling to Footitt, who was the best of the home bowlers with 4-65. Watling and Tom Latham added another quick-fire 47, before the BLACKCAPS declared at 289-5 giving them just over an hour to bowl at the home side before the end of play.
Neil Wagner finished the day’s play by clean bowling Chesney Hughes, leaving Derbyshire 24-1. Meanwhile Guptill, who played for Derbyshire last year, was presented with his 2012 Division Two County Championship winners medal before the start of play after missing the end of the County season.
