After narrowly beating Namibia in their first tour match on Saturday, the BLACKCAPS appear to
have adjusted to the high altitude by hammering the cricketing minnows in their second game at Windhoek yesterday.
Batting first, the BLACKCAPS reached 326 for five off their 50 overs, before bowling Namibia out for 178. (84 not out) and (73 not out) were the major contributors with the bat, while Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris and Lou Vincent all made starts.
At the bowling crease, Daniel Vettori took three for 24 off eight overs. He was ably supported by Shane Bond (two for 16) and Chris Martin (two for 26).
The BLACKCAPS performance was a vast improvement on the first game where the bowlers struggled with their length at high altitude. In that match, the New Zealanders reached 330 for six after their 50 overs. Craig Cumming (116) and the Marshall twins, Hamish (58) and James (36), provided the bulk of the runs.
However, after having the hosts in trouble at five for 75, Namibia were able to reach 301, before they were all out. Shane Bond was clearly the standout bowler, taking two for 20 off his 10 overs.
The BLACKCAPS head to Harare on Tuesday to prepare for Sunday's first Test.
