Bates and Priest part of World XI

White Ferns captain Suzie Bates and wicketkeeper Rachel Priest have been named in a world XI side to take on an England team at Lord’s Cricket Ground. The game will be played at the prestigious ‘home of cricket’ on 19 May.

The two players will represent New Zealand in what is the first ever women’s world XI to be assembled, with Bates also named captain. The rest of the star-studded side is made up of two players each from Australia, West Indies and India and one player apiece from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Bates was excited to be involved in the match.

“It’s a big honour and pretty unique opportunity to get to play at Lords and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it,” said Bates.

“There are a lot of really talented cricketers involved and it should be a good match. Hopefully Priesty (Rachel) and I can represent New Zealand well!”

Charlotte Edwards will captain the English side.
