Bangladesh gets win

Bangladesh has recorded an upset four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Bogra after easing to its target of 213 with two overs to spare.

Mohammad Ashraful led the hosts with a superb 51, as they recorded their first triumph over Sri Lanka.

The victory also levels the three-match one-day international series at 101.

Fog caused a delayed start to the match, which was eventually reduced to 49 overs. Bangladesh won the toss and sent Sri Lanka in to bat.

Sanath Jayasuriya was in fine form, scoring 96, but had little in the way of support as his teammates crumbled around him and Sri Lanka was held to 212.

Kumar Sangakkara (23) and Farveez Maharoof (21) were the only other batsmen to score more than 20 runs against Bangladesh's inspired attack.

The wickets were shared amongst Bangladesh's bowlers, with six capturing at least one scalp.

Paceman Syed Rasel was the hosts' best with 2-28 from 10 overs, while Mohammad Rafique (2-40) and Alok Kapali (2-29) also had valuable spells.

Bangladesh then held its nerve to record the win, losing only six wickets on its way to victory.

Javed Omar (40), Habibul Bashar (33) and Aftab Ahmed (32 not out) all contributed valuable runs for the home side.

The packed stadium chanted "Bangladesh, Bangladesh" as the delighted players completed a lap of honour.

The third match of the series will be played in Chittagong on Saturday.
