In form batsmen Mike Hussey said that Australia is not taking the Bangladesh tour lightly, revealing that the team is preparing for its two-Test and three-match limited overs series' against the developing side in the same way it would for any international tour.
Speaking shortly after Australia's first training session in Dhaka on Friday, Hussey said that the inside information they have access to from two current support staff members will be utilised, and he believes the side knows more about Bangladesh - a somewhat unknown quantity - than most world cricket teams.
"We do study their players and have a fair bit of footage of them," Hussey told Sportal.
"(AIS senior coach) Richard McInnes and Justin Cordy (Australian team's strength and conditioning coach) have been a part of the Bangladesh setup over the past few years so we know a fair bit about them - more than most countries."
Cordy was previously a fitness advisor to the Bangladesh Cricket Board, while McInnes was a high performance manager with the Asian side.
Hussey, who averaged over 64 in the recent 3-0 Test series whitewash of South Africa and was promoted to be the world's No.10-ranked batsman earlier this week, said that he believes spinners will have more impact than pacemen in Bangladesh.
"The pitches are going to be very low and slow, and I can't see there being a lot of sideways movement for the quicks," Hussey said.
"The spinners will come into play a lot more."
While the pitch surfaces will be different in Bangladesh for the Australian side to those played on in the recent South African tour, where the seamers were able to extract plenty of movement, Hussey said that acclimatising to the weather conditions will also be imperative.
"We are going to have to adjust very quickly," he said.
"But we have a lot of experienced players so I am sure that it will not be a problem (doing so)."
The first Test against Bangladesh starts on Sunday in Dhaka, with the home side coming off a 4-0 ODI series win over Kenya.
