Another Century for Cumming

The Otago Volts put on 350 runs after being put into bat by the Auckland Aces on day one of their State Championship match on the Eden Park Outer Oval.

A second ton in as many matches by Otago opener Craig Cumming was the stand out innings, scoring his 105 runs off 150 balls and included 17 boundaries.

The opening partnership of 158 with between Cumming and Aaron Redmond, who reached 50, set a solid platform for the Otago innings.

Fellow top order batsman Greg Todd and Neil Broom also cashed in, both reaching half centuries.

Todd will continue tomorrow on 83 with his sights set on a fifth first class century.

Auckland seamer Daryl Tuffey and Indian born leg spinner Tarun Nethula took two wickets apiece with Auckland using seven bowlers throughout the day.

Otago look to build on their first innings total tomorrow, resuming on 350 for four.
