Andrew Ellis withdrawn from Champions Trophy squad

Canterbury all-rounder Andrew Ellis has been withdrawn from the BLACKCAPS squad for the ICC Champions Trophy due to a broken rib.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury while training in Christchurch in preparation for both the ICC Champions Trophy and a three match One Day International series against England.

A replacement is yet to be named for the tournament that starts on 9 June for the BLACKCAPS with an opening match against Sri Lanka in Cardiff, followed by games against Australia in Birmingham on 12 June and against England in Cardiff on 16 June.

The BLACKCAPS ODI players leave for the UK next Tuesday and will prepare with two warm-up matches in Northampton.

The squad, minus the players involved in the second Investec Test in Leeds, will play a selection XI in matches on Friday 24 May and Monday 27 May. The matches will be held at the Finedon Dolben Cricket Club in Northampton, where the BLACKCAPS ODI players will also train for a week.
