New Zealand Cricket today has issued an update on the condition of Andrew Ellis and Ross Taylor.
Ellis and Taylor displayed symptoms consistent with gastro-enteritis during yesterday’s One Day International. Taylor managed to continue playing while the symptoms displayed by Ellis were serious enough to have him return to the team hotel shortly after the start of the second innings.
This morning the players showed signs of dehydration and it has been decided by the team medical staff that treatment at the local hospital was the best course of action. They are expected to return to the team hotel in a few hours after the rehydration treatment is complete.
Ross Taylor is expected to be fit to play tomorrow while a decision on Andrew Ellis will be made closer to the time of the match.
