Aldridge picks up top award for Northern Districts

Graeme Aldridge picked up the top gong at Friday night's Northern Districts awards dinner.

The veteran seam bowler was named ND Player of the Year after this season becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the New Zealand domestic one-day competition.

Aldridge took 53 wickets over three competitions in his 2010/11 campaign.

He secured 12 wickets at an average of 20 in the Twenty20 competition, 11 wickets at 26 in the one-day competition and 30 wickets at 25 in the Plunket Shield.

BJ Watling won the Batsman of the Year trophy after averaging more than 50 in both the Plunket Shield and the one-day competition.

He had a tally of more than 1000 runs in the three competitions.

White Ferns all-rounder Nicola Browne won the women's cricketer of the year crown while pace bowler Andrew Mathieson was named young cricketer of the year.

Brian Dunning Cup (men's one day championship) – Counties Manukau;
Fergus Hickey Rosebowl (champion district association team) – Hamilton;
Allan McBride Trophy for services to junior cricket – Tony Edwards, Northland;
Umpire of the Year – Ashley Mehotra, Counties Manukau;
Academy Player of the Year – Ben Hyde, Northland;
Young Cricketer – Andrew Mathieson;
District Association Player of the Year – Leighton Parsons, Waikato Valley;
Men's A Team Player of the Year – James Baker, Hamilton;
ND Women's Cricketer of the Year – Nicola Browne;
Fielder of the Year – James Marshall;
Bowler – Graeme Aldridge;
Batsman – BJ Watling;
