Adams joins ICL

Andre Adams has accepted a contract to participate in ICL competitions over the next two years.

Adams was contracted to Auckland Cricket until 15 April this year and before accepting the ICL contract his domestic contract with Auckland Cricket was terminated by mutual consent.

ACA Chief Executive Andrew Eade said “Andre has been a valuable member of our set up and we will be very sorry to lose his services. However we recognize that he is a professional cricketer with a young family and that it would be unrealistic to expect him to turn his back on an opportunity such as this.

“He will continue to play for the Aces on match payments until he is required for his first ICL commitments in March this year.”

Adams said “I am sad that by accepting the ICL contract Auckland Cricket and I have to terminate my domestic contract as I have always been very proud to play for the Aces.

“However it is pleasing that I will be able to complete the State Shield campaign before my ICL obligations commence – this is very important to me.

“Playing in the ICL offers me the opportunity to secure my family’s future and is an opportunity I simply cannot turn down. It also offers me the opportunity to play in India with and against some high profile players and I am excited about this challenge.”
