Rob Nicol and Richard Jones led State Auckland Aces to a record-breaking victory over State Northern Knights at Eden Park.
Nicol (135) and Jones (108) put on 242, Auckland’s highest one-day pairing and the second highest limited-over stand in inter-provincial matches after Martin Guptill had made 44 in the first 10 overs.
Jones and Nicol came together from the 11th to the 46th overs and guided Auckland to its largest-ever one-day score, 342 for five.
The State Shield holders were then made to work in the field, as the Knights’ made 306 for eight in reply, ND’s second highest 50-over score.
BJ Watling (64) and Mark Orchard (57) posted half-centuries in a prolific, yet unsuccessful, run chase.
