White Ferns win three from three to book a spot in the Semi's

The White Ferns have brushed aside South Africa by six wickets at Taunton to finish top of Group A and book a place in the ICC World Twenty20 semi-finals.

South Africa were put into bat and looked shaky at 30 for three before a 91 run partnership between Cri-zelda Brits and Susan Benade steadied the innings.

Brits struck an unbeaten 57 from 54 with Benade hitting 46 from 44 as South Africa put a competitive 124 on the board.

Saskia Bullen, playing in only her second Twenty20 International, took two for 20 off her four overs with Sain Ruck and Kate Pulford picking up one apiece.

In reply, the in-form Suzie Bates hit 24 at the top of the order with captain Aimee Watkins top-scoring with 35 from 28.

Nicola Browne was there at the end with an unbeaten 24 as the White Ferns eased home with 11 balls to spare.

Watkins said, “I thought we did really well today, especially with those conditions in the field. We were always looking comfortable.”

They are now likely to face India at Trent Bridge on Thursday 18 June 1:30pm (UK time), Friday 19 June 12:30am (NZ time).
