Wellington win rain affected match

The Wellington Firebirds have beaten the Northern Knights by 22 runs in a rain affected match at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Northern made 223 batting first with inform batsman Kane Williamson top scoring with 70.  Contributions also came from Michael Parlane (42) and Anton Devcich (34).

The wickets were shared by the Firebirds attack with Dewayne Bowden, Andy McKay and Paul Hitchcock all picking up two.

Wellington made it through to 156 for four in the 35th over before rain stopped play, handing them the 22 run win by Duckworth-Lewis method.

The runs were shared with captain Matthew Bell the best with an unbeaten 40.
