The Central Hind's Beat Top of the Table Wellington Blaze

The State Wellington Blaze suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the the State Central Hinds at Karori Park, Wellington.

Wellington chose to bowl and kept Central to 206 in the top of the table clash.

Central batsmen, Aimee Mason and Sara McGlashan put on 63 for the third wicket, with Mason reaching 52.  McGlashan made 34.

Again it was Sophie Devine and Lucy Doolan taking the wickets and containing the batsmen for the Blaze, both bowling three maidens and taking three wickets from their ten overs.  

Devine had figures of three for 25 and Doolan three for 20.

Wellington looked to be cruising at 169 for four but accurate bowling, a sharp run out and never say die attitude saw the Central Hinds complete the upset.

Lucy Doolan was solid at the top of the order with 31 and Megan Wakefield was dismissed just short of her half century on 47.

Amanda Cooper, 22, Sopie Devine, 23, and Natalie Dodd, 28 all got starts but were unable to kick on.

Central’s teenage sensation, Kate Broadmore, was outstanding returning figures of three for 29 off 9.2 overs. Abby Burrows was also on fire taking three for 30 off ten.

The State Wellington Blaze are still at the top of the table after seven rounds with State Central Hinds closing in on second.
