Tail gets Hinds home by two wickets

Abby Burrows took three wickets and hit 12 vital runs to steer the Central Hinds to a two wicket win over the Otago Sparks in a low scoring match at Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton.

The score was on 116 when number nine Burrows came to the wicket with another 45 required to win.  Along with Sarah Norman (28) the pair got the Hinds within six with Burrows polishing off the remaining runs.

Amy Watkins was the only top order batsman to get runs with 28.

Leg spinner Emma Campbell was the best Sparks bowler on the park taking three for 20 with Suzie Bates chiming in with two.

Earlier, the Otago Sparks made 160 with Sarah Tsukigawa hitting a stunning 83.  Unfortunately, the other batsman found it tough going and Claire Taylor’s 19 not out was the next best score.

Burrows sneered the prize wickets of Katey Martin, Bates and Campbell.  Rachel Candy and Kate Broadmore took two apiece.
