Tahuhu stars in five wicket win

The Canterbury Magicians bounced back from their loss on Saturday with a convincing five wicket win over the Auckland Hearts Lincoln No. 3, Lincoln.

Lea Tahuhu’s four for 19 was the key to restricting Auckland to 102 all-out off 40.5 overs, then opener Meg Kendal’s 29 led her side to the target off 30 overs for the loss of five wickets.

The victory halted Auckland’s winning streak but they still remain on top of the table having won seven of their eight fixtures this season.

Canterbury took the early initiative removing the top five batsmen inside 16 overs while Lauren Down led a mid-innings rally with the sides top score of 31.

When Tahuhu had Down trapped in front another collapse resulted with the final four wickets falling for five runs.

Kendal got the run chase off to steady start and even though Canterbury lost wickets reasonably regularly, Hayley Jensen managed to steer the team to victory with 20 not out.

Holly Huddleston was Auckland’s best with two for 28.
