Everyone was looking forward to the first round of New Zealand's one-day Hallyburton Johnstone Shield in Northland.
The game had been set to feature the much anticipated debut of ex-Hinds captain Jess Watkin for Northern Districts, plus the formal coaching debut for new ND mentor Peter Borren, and for the Hearts, the return of WHITE FERN Maddy Green to her old team, among other new faces this season.
But play was eventually called off by rainy weather at Cobham Oval with no action possible.

The teams split the points, and will return tomorrow hoping for better luck with the weather in Round Two.
