Rain frustrates Stags in HRV Twenty20

Rain defeated the fourth and final attempt by the Devon Hotel Central Stags to pick up a win at New Plymouth's Pukekura Park, while would-be opponents the Canterbury Wizards were also left ruing the weather as their HRV Twenty20 clash was abandoned without a ball bowled this afternoon.

The winless Stags have just two away games left to get a win on the board in this year's competition, travelling to Dunedin to meet the Otago Volts on 12 January before facing the Auckland Aces at Eden Park on 14 January - crucial matches for their opponents in the jostle for a place in the finals.

The Canterbury Wizards meanwhile return home to play the Hell Wellington Firebirds at Hagley Oval on 10 January, while the SKYCITY Northern Knights meet the Aces in Auckland at 4pm tomorrow. The Knights, under pressure to reassert themselves on the points table after consecutive losses, regain the services of Australian pro Dan Harris for the key clash, while the Aces have named an unchanged squad.
