India have beaten New Zealand A by nine wickets in the Emerging Players Tournament three-day match at Endeavour Park in Townsville.
Starting the day on 48 for three and 84 runs behind India
New Zealand A, who were asked to follow on, started the day 84 runs behind India on 48 for three.
A defiant 148 run partnership between captain Daniel Flynn and Dean Brownlie kept India at bay for the most of the final day but there was little resistance once they departed.
Flynn was the first to go for 80 with Brownlie next to fall on 88. Luke Woodcock chipped in with 36 before the team were all out for 239.
India were left needing 107 and aggressively went about getting the target reaching 108 for one.
Earlier in the match, India batting first and piled on 404 for six and then bundled out New Zealand for 272, forcing the follow on.
New Zealand A drew with Australian Institute of Sport in their first match and take on South Africa on Thursday in their final match.
Day 2 - New Zealand A v India
New Zealand A were asked to bat again on day two of three day match of the Emerging Players Tournament against India in Townsville.
Starting day two on 24 for two New Zealand went onto get 272 but it was not enough to avoid the follow on.
Dean Brownlie top scored with 55 and captain Daniel Flynn struck 52 but the scorecard indicated that they struggled to form a partnership of any significance.
India took three wickets late in the day to have New Zealand teetering at 48 for three – still 74 runs behind India’s first innings total of 404.
Daniel Flynn (24*) and Dean Brownlie (9*) will resume tomorrow.
Day 1 - New Zealand A v India
India put on 404 for six before declaring on day one of the three-day match against New Zealand A in Townsville.
Tiwary got the bulk of the runs with a 188 while Pandey fell four runs short of a century.
New Zealand pace man Andy McKay was the best of the bowling attacking with three for 70 while new ball bowling partner Trent Boult took two for 34.
India then removed both openers with Rob Nicol (12) and Brad Wilson (5) to have New Zealand 24 for two at stumps.
