The New Zealand A side have finished the Emerging Players Twenty20 competition with a 13 run win at Peter Burge Oval but lost by 14 runs to Australia Institute of Sport earlier in the day.
The teams have a one off non-competition 50-over match on Friday 29 July before starting the first round of three-day matches on Monday 1 August.
New Zealand A v South Africa (1.30pm start)
After winning the toss and electing to bat New Zealand A amassed 156 for six and tight bowling combined with regular wickets kept South Africa to 143 for six.
Neil Broom got the team off to a flyer with 47 off 40 balls at the top of the order with Doug Bracewell and (37 off 26) Derek de Boorder (37* off 23) finishing off the innings.
The South African reply was lead by Richard Levi who cracked 74 off just 40 balls but the rest of the team were unable to support the hard hitting opener.
It was the New Zealand seamers who continually plugged away with Trent Boult and Bracewell rewarded with two wickets each while Graeme Aldridge and Andy McKay picked up one apiece.
New Zealand A v Australia Institute of Sport (9.30am start)
AIS put on 151 for six and then restricted New Zealand A to 137 for eight.
Tim Armstrong provided the backbone of the AIS innings an unbeaten 74 off 66 balls with support provided by Tom Beaton (34) and Ryan Carters (27).
New ball bowler Andy McKay was outstanding taking two for 19 while Doug Bracewell picked up two for 29.
New Zealand made a shaky start to their reply with their top four batsman failing to make an impression.
Luke Woodcock fought hard and was left stranded on 52 not out off 48 balls at the end of the innings. Derek de Boorder was next best with 24 off 15.
Ben Cutting was the pick of the Australian attack with three for 15.
South Africa and India both finished with two wins and loss to be joint winners of the Twenty20 section of the Emerging Players Tournament. Third place was shared by New Zealand and AIS who won one of their three matches.
